"A heart warming family dedicated to a heart warming breed"

At Tollchester our journey started the day our family met a little ball of red fur named “Blaze”. Since the addtion of Blaze we had the opprotunity to see the best and worst sides of the dog world. Despite some bad, we stuck it out for the love of the breed. In 2003 we decided to officially became part of the purebred world by registereing our kennel name with the Canadian Kennel Club. From there we move onto become active members in Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Flyball and even dabbled in the Field. As time moved on, our family became more distracted by human chronic health problems and were forced to narrow our focus. Despite having to cut back we are still invested in our mentorship programs and are always thrilled by the success many of their owners. We have been honored that our tollers have been succesful in multiple venues including obedience, flyball, field, dock dogs, fast cat, tracking, agility, therapy and conformation. Tollchester is actively breeding and dedicates a plethora of time to pedigrees, health, temperament, structure and the genetics in their breeding program.

Over the years we have become very active and successful in conformation. We started by showing Blaze to a Best in Show, Reserve Best In Show and Best Puppy in show. From there we went on to handle many tollers to their Swedish, Canadian and American Championships; including winning awards at some of the biggest shows in the world! In 2020 things changed and we had to focus on our chronic health condtion. At that time we cut back on the number of shows we attended. However, we still have many lovely co-owners continuing on this journey with success.

In the past we have take pride in being a member of a number of clubs. In 2005 we participated in the BC All Retriever Club where Tollchester was honored with the position of Show Chairman the first year in the club and put together a supported regional toller specialty show. We have also participated in the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada for a number of years. As the BC director for the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada for 2005/06 we held many events to help raise funds for the 2007 National specialty, including successful fundraising picnics, walks, potlucks and silent auctions. We were also chosen to create the graphic design for the logo for the 2007 National toller event. We were also active members in planning the toller naitonal speciality for the 2015 and placed in charge of hospitality. Tollchester clients held many of the positions the year of the 2015 speciality and helped things run smoothly. In 2006 we were active board member of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club. During that time we introduced the idea of a Register Of Merit (ROM) program. Tollchester has also been a member of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of the USA. In 2012 we joined the Lab Club seeking more field training opprotunities. We were thrilled to be part of their hunt club (despite not owning a lab). Recently, our family had health concerns that overwhelmed our lives and became the center of our focus. While we still enjoy some dog sports and continue to do well in the show rings, we had to make the political decision not be active club members with many of the clubs we participated in. We are still active members of the Canadian Kennel Club and Tollchester is a registered kennel name with the Canadian Kennel Club for over 20 years!

Breeding is Tollchester's exhilaration! As Registered Toller Breeders we take pride in our puppies and their owners. Since our first litter in 2005, Tollchester tollers have become active members in their communities world wide (including Hawaii, England, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Saudia Arabia and Australia)! Over the past decade breeding has introduced our family to a lot of wonderful people. We also had the pleasure in the mentorship of many great people, including owners and breeders.

Tollchester breeds to provide families with a loving companion. We are very proud to say that an excessive amount of time and research goes into every breeding.

To sum up our past, present and future their lives have "gone to the dogs".
